Thanks Alex,

I was told about ning by Dr. Stearns. I took a lot of new media classes at UB in my undergrad, and I've been looking for a place with good discussion on digital/media topics.

Thanks!

Again, messaging isn;t working for me and neither is my blog. Maybe I have some firewalls up but I am not too computer savvy. Just wanted to give you the heads up.

Thanks for answering my questions on the future of online education. Your point about children "needing supervision" is an interesting one. I guess it just goes to show that "education" is as much about having a place for children to go while adults work as anything that has to do with "knowledge".

Hi Professor Reid,

I assumed that, due to my past difficulties with Webct, you read my 2nd review on the wiki (I posted it at 5:30 a.m Tues. morning). I am worried, however, that you didn't. I just checked Webct (I have finally gotten through) and didn't find any comments. Let me know if you would still like it posted in Webct, or if the wiki is sufficient. Thanks.

Hi Professor,
I just wanted to make sure that you recieved my 2nd book review last weekend via e-mail. I can not seem to get it to attach to webct.

my husband put some of his movies on my thumb drive that he thinks i should watch--Ghost in a Shell, Brazil, City of Los Children--i haven't watched any yet, but researched them. Anime probably isn't my thing, but the other two seem interesting--are either a possibility?

sorry to bug you again--just wondering if you have any answers re: my inquiry for the 3rd review. i'm getting ready to start...thanks

Prof. Reid, For my 3rd review i'm hoping to do something a little different. If i use an unassigned book or possibly a work in another medium, do i need to have my source approved beforehand? i like Distraction--i just think as i move towards thoughts on the final paper i want more exposure/exploration of the genre.

Hi Professor,
I am having trouble adding an attachment in webct. Any suggestions? I e-mailed my 2nd review to you and also put it up on the other site.
Thanks!

For final papers are we relegated to using one of the texts we read in class or can we choose another from the genre?

Thank you for the extra time for the 2nd review. It was nice to be able to read your comments on the first and game-plan a bit before trying to write the next one.

Hi Professor Reid,

How's it going? This whole class has been an interesting experience. I'm not used to getting to know, or not getting to know, people through online interaction. I'm still not comfortable with it, and it feels wierd sharing my thoughts with people who I've never met in person, but I can see both the appeal and potential of taking online classes.

I'm wondering if this is the future of education. Why physically go to school if you can get just as much out of an online experience? With the price of energy going up, virtual education might be a viable solution for many people around the world. And I'm sure the technology will emerge to make the experience as "life like" as possible, as in all of the books we are reading. What kinds of changes
do you see taking place in the educational system as a result of distant learning? Do you think it will eventually replace the physical school? If so, what effects do you think this will have on human behavior? Sorry for the barrage of questions. I'm just curious to know what you think.

I'm only leaving a comment as messaging seems to be disabled, as well as the blog. I've been trying to post my blog since 10, with no success. Commenting is working fine, and so is wiki. Just wanted to let you know.
