Little Brother on the In-Laws Comp BLOG
Our laptop isn't working for the past few days so I asked the in-laws if I could use there computer. "No Problemo". Ok, well I am planning on finishing Little Brother tonight. Although I can tell it is geared to people a little younger than ourselves I absolutely love it. This is what I picture the very near future to be like. I mean VERY near-10-20 years. I love how the author knows the youths online slang and even some regular slang. Although I don't do it, so many people I know use the different symbols for letters, just like Marcus does. I also like how it is from a first person POV. Everything we know, Marcus knows. And he does a great job of explaining everything in detail. It has made me have better knowledge of how our society and tracking and the internet works. It was interesting how he had a background of many people, like his teachers and his parents. This is stuff that I would find out online. Every time I hear about someone in the paper, I run to Myspace and Google to check their history out. It's so funny. This shoudl definitely be recommended reading for all high schoolers. As a matter of fact, it was swiped from my local library because it was on the summer reading list so my fiance had to drive a few towns over to get it (Barnes and Nobel was all out too). I'm going to check out the discussions right now and will be back.

My blogging still is not working which is driving me crazy! I'm just so frustrated and cannot get my review finished-it's just awful and I have to get it done tonight and it's almost midnight and ARGH. Just venting. Exhausted here.

BLOG POST: Thursday Night Blues
This has without a doubt been my toughest week to get through. It's just one of them... It took me ages to get started with Distraction (I should have gone to the library to get it before this week) and now it seems I cannot even get a minute to sit down reading it! Well, I'm loving reading the discussions. They are insightful as always. It's so odd becuase I think so much more when I reply on this site than I would if I were in a classroom. I know that in the classroom if I sound stupid or say something that does not really have anything at all to do with the discussion, my classmates will forget in 5 minutes. Here, whatever I say is just posted there FOREVER. So I really make sure to have my discussion posts well thought out. Anyone feel the same? I guess thats another good thing about online classes.
Anywhoo-I am finding Disctraction pretty entertaining. I saw classmates saying that it would make a good movie and at this point I am inclined to agree. It would be a quirky movie for a certain audience but it could definitely find it's niche. Probably be a successful DVD. It's just a certain type of humor. I feel that Sterling is poking fun at modern-day politics-this seems like the kind of book that I would have fun writing. It's not for everyone, though. Gonna go check around the stie and I will be back later.

He, She, and It. WHere's the comma???

I loved it so so so much. After spending so much time typing the title for my review, though, something pops into my mind. What is UP with the title? Where ist he comma that I want to see after she? I was reading other reviews and noticed that other students filled the comma in, as well. Did Piercy leave it out on purpose. Like there is a he AND THEN there is a she and it together, separately from the he. Like Gadi, Shira and Yod. Or did she make a mistake and forget the comma. I really doubt that. There must have been purpose. But what?

I'm such a ding dong. That's what I always say instead of really berating myself in front of my children. Anyways, I am just wrapping up the review here. I'm always cutting it close. I have been reading other peoples reviews but don't think they have really influenced mine, although they ARE good. I'm liking the way mine is flowing right now. I'd be surprised if I do worse (grade-wise) on this one than the last. It's funny. I was toying with the idea of writing restaurant reviews for a while, as I am really passionate about both food and writing. I've never been critiqued on any until now so I'm really enjoying this class for that reason. I also am really passionate about movies. Yeha, picture me sitting around eating lobsters and watching movies. Nah, I wish. Anyways, I am totally off track. I LOVED LOVED LOVED He, She, and It, although for completely different reasons than why I loved Neuromancer (duh). It was such a sweet story and I adore sad endings. My favorite movie is Days of Heaven. Love the sadness. Anyways, I'm gonna go wrap up my review right now but will be back.

PS-my blog was written an hour ago and would not post so I'm posting it now as a comment and will fix it tomorrow.
I came up with a title for my book review.
Cyborgasmic...it just came to me.

Thank you for the comment - I see your point about Neuromancer possibly being the end-goal, but I realized that at the end, once the union is complete, the AI is neither Wintermute or Neuromancer anymore, but is simply the matrix itself. And that can't be good for anyone in the long run! I wish I had time to read the sequals to find out what all the foreshadowing is leading up to! Darn trilogies...
