The thing I loved best about Little Brother was how Doctorow put aspects of technology into layman's terms for the average person. Unlike Neuromancer, which I loved, we don't have to figure out much. It's straight up. I do medical billing for a living. Yesterday I was doing what I always do. Got the bills together in a batch online, ready for submission. I clicked onto AT&T Global Network Client, which is a program we have to fire up before accessing the Ivans program we use to submit the claims to medicare. As the AT&T program was loading (almost like AIM loads with the little infomers that tell you what is happening as it loads) I noticed something. it was NEGOTIATING THE ENCRYPTION KEYS WITH THE SERVER!!!!!!!!!!! and i UNDERSTOOD. That's why I loved this book. I cannot wait for more little things to happen that I can link to this Little Brother.
