Tell us a little about yourself and your interest in the course you're taking.
I love learning new things. Meeting new people. Discovering different aspects of writing.
What are your reading and writing habits? (i.e. what do you like to write and read?)
I read whenever I'm truly invested in the subject of the writing. Unfortunately, I often find myself picking up books that I initially begin to read but have no intention of ever finishing them. Right now I'm really into memoirs based on musicians. I just finished one on Bob Dylan which I loved. As for writing, I really enjoy creative writing and poetry.
How would you describe your general attitude toward computers and related technology?
Comfortable but not super excited
Do you have a high-speed internet connection (e.g. cable, dsl, etc.)?
yes
Do you have access to a webcam and a microphone for your computer?
no
What "Web 2.0" websites do you use?
Facebook, My Space, YouTube
Have you ever...

Pandora is my favorite!

Out of all of the social networking sites I would have to say that Pandora is my favorite and the one that I will end up using all of the time and in the future. Throughout my journey with the rest of the sites it seemed that I would go through fascination periods with each of them for a week and then soon forget about them once the week passed. This phase definitely did not pass with pandora because ever since I became a member I have been addicted to the site and have been on it multiple times… Continue

Buzznet

Buzznet is most definitely a social networking site for teens who have a little too much time on their hands. Or at least that's my impression of it as of right now. It supposedly combines music, with social networking with entertainment news and issues but the music aspect seems to be seriously lacking because all of the bands that they are offering information on are ones that are relatively famous and most definitely in the emo genre. Also, the social networking aspect of the site is just lik… Continue

AMIE STREET

When first entering Amie Street I immediately thought it was like every other music site and it was not until I looked deeper into the establishment of the website that I grew a liking for it. When you sign up as a member they ask what specific artists you are interested in which is similar to lastfm. But they also ask what two genres of music you primarily listen to which I thought was interesting. Amie Streets goal is for listeners to discover music by underground artists. Because the site is… Continue

iLike

I never heard of iLike until I pretended like I used it all the time and was a huge fan at my internship interview last week. Ever since then I decided to check it out considering I'm going to have to start using it in a couple of months. It seems interesting at first glance, but seems to provide nothing special that makes me want to become an avid user. It first connects your music to iTunes or a Windows Media Player, and relates your musical tastes with other users that you may enjoy. It also… Continue

Myspace

Myspace was the first official social networking site that I joined a little over five years ago (wow, I feel old). The thing that is still so unique about Myspace is that it is your own space on the web. You are granted your own page where you can say and add any pictures, videos, music, etc. that you want. Although it is great for personal expression, it doesn't seem to be that great at actual human connection within the social network-most have turned to Facebook for this kind of connection.… Continue

Yes! I did see the Scorsese picture, and it was fantastic. I prefer "Don't Look Back" as the ultimate cinema verite document of Dylan as he happened, but Scorsese's flick was definitely worth seeing. And w/ "I'm Not There", what a year for Dylan fans.

I was going to submit some stuff I wrote for soundcheckmagazine.com, but apparently they're actually using my reviews now - So I'll have to come up with something new. But I definitely will, and I'll submit - Thanks!
(Does Speak ever have meetings or anything like that?)

Heyyy -

Isn't that Zimmerman auto-bio great? I loved it too.

So you're the one heading up Speak? I heard a bit about it, and wanted to know how to contribute. I do music reviews mainly, but I'm open to anything.
