In reflection I found this class to be very unique from the other classes I have taken throughout my college career. The most unique aspect of the course was the use of modern technology to create and submit our assignments. Not just the fact that it was an online class and we used the computer and the internet to work but the different programs we used and the unique ways of creating each assignment was what stood out to me the most. For example I had never done a podcast before or really knew what they were before taking this class. Many classes you submit via essays or presentations and it was interesting to learn a new modern way, such as a podcast, of discussing a topic. Also using Second Life was an interesting way of meeting with students/professor outside of the classroom. This was a very unique way of participating in a class. The programs such as Audacity and Windows Movie Maker were also programs I had never used before this class.

I also liked the fact that this class never seemed too overwhelming. I felt like I had adequate time to complete assignments which is not the case in many other courses you will take. Discussion topics were interesting for the most part and were thought provoking. It was not just reiterating what was said in the readings but adding our own perception and opinion.

My opinion of this class was that it was great. I honestly think that I learned more in this class than I have in any other class that I have taken at SUNY Cortland. I mean there was just so much more freedom for me to think about my actual opinions on issues. I would love to take another online class.

I learned alot about the online world such as how to use wikis and second life. I didn't really enjoy the second life project, however I think that in completing it, I gained more knowledge about our online society and where we are heading. I think that the video project was fairly simple to complete even though as Taylor and Deanna stated, we had many problems in editing the video. I enjoyed doing the podcasts because I have never done any of those before, so I learned how to complete them as well as how well they can get your point across as a pose to blogging or writing your ideas down for people to read. I also liked the web identity project because it gave me a chance to explore social networking sites that I have never heard of before, as well as explore social networks that I was already a part of.

Overall, I enjoyed taking this class and think that more classes like this should be offered here at SUNY Cortland.
